Hello

My path to working in the communication and digital marketing field hasn't been traditional, but that means that I bring a lot of experience and different viewpoints to the workplace. I strive to work hard on any team that I'm a part of, and I always want to represent my best self in my work. Read more to learn about my journey below.

My Story

My name is Allison Gall, and I've lived my entire life in the Cleveland, Ohio area. After growing up in Solon and attending Solon High School, I went on to John Carroll University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. At John Carroll, I was able to focus my major in professional writing, specifically nonfiction and technical writing. I also minored in communication, and I took classes focusing in journalism and PR. Outside of classes, I was the staff copywriter for The Carroll News, the university newspaper, and the founder, president, and editor-in-chief of Her Campus JCU, a chapter of the international digital magazine for college women Her Campus. My experience in both organizations led to a deep passion for communication and writing work. It also gave me a deep understanding of AP style, and the importance of following a style guide.

After graduating from John Carroll in 2014, I took several years to gain workplace experience. Despite not having extensive professional experience explicitly in the communication and digital media world, I found myself gravitating towards that career path. In 2018, I began my work at St. Joan of Arc Church, where I was able to hone my skills in communication, particularly in terms of communicating effectively to different audience segments and working on improving organizational communication both internally and externally. Additionally, my experience there working with teens and their families gave me important experience in building stakeholder value and forming solid client relationships.

While working at St. Joan of Arc, I took on a part-time role at a local bridal boutique, where I still work. At Galleria Gowns, I've not only built real-world marketing skills by writing copy for their website and blog, but also by creating marketing collateral for the annual Today's Bride Expo and attending and working the trade show event. My time at Galleria Gowns has also given me valuable experience by honing my ability to listen to the needs of a client and finding effective solutions to meet their needs by being attentive to their opinions and adjusting my decision-making to meet their specifications. My time as a bridal specialist has also given me extensive sales experience and good practice at building relationships and following up with clients.

To help myself realize my goal of working full-time in the communication and digital media space, I went back to school and earned my Master of Communication from the Scripps College of Communication at Ohio University. I focused my coursework on practical skills in the digital media arena, such as graphic design, animation, and video and podcast production. Additionally, I took a set of three courses on digital transformation in business, where I learned about how to plan and lead digital transformation efforts in companies, including the incorporation of AI into workflows and how to plan for the rapid technological changes that we experience every day. These courses also had a heavy focus on understanding business models and how to analyze them and the importance of market and target audience research and analysis.

Outside of work and education, you can find me as a volunteer usher at Severance Music Center, enjoying a Cleveland Orchestra concert at Blossom Music Center, or taking in a musical at Playhouse Square. I also enjoy playing violin and working on my vocal technique in voice lessons. I'm also an avid crafter, and I always have a new crochet or sewing project to share. I also love spending time with my dog, particularly walking him in local parks.
